What to Expect

When are services?
We have two services on Sunday at 8:45 and 11:00. Greeters will welcome you warmly at the doors at each service and can guide you where you need to go. As a church body, we seek to meet people where they are during worship opportunities designed to hearten and embrace in two distinct formats. Each service will explore the same topic and all of our sermons are Biblically-based and focused on God’s Word. Our Senior Pastor Bill Ford presents the sermon at both the traditional and the contemporary service and run between 35 to 40 minutes in length. If you come to services without a Bible, we provide the New International Version in the pews for your convenience. Communion services are generally held on the first Sunday of each month. At 8:45, our traditional services are based on conventional church worship and feature musical contributions from the chancel choir and the congregation sings from selections from Christian hymnals that are provided in the pews. These customary services include indroit (lighting of the candles) and doxology. At 11:00, our contemporary services have a more modern approach to worship and feature music from our Praise Team which will lead modern Christian musical selections and may include a variety of instruments.
What should I wear?
Our attendees generally come respectfully and modestly dressed. Many come more casually dressed in khakis and polo shirts though others opt for the traditional coat and tie. Women also dress along the same spectrum and may also opt for slacks, pant suits or dresses.
How do I get to Parkway?
Parkway Church is located on Bethelview Road in Cumming, Georgia. This is exit 13 off of Georgia 400. If you are coming north on 400, take exit 13 and make a left (away from The Avenues). Cross over Highway 9 and Parkway church will be on the left. If you are coming south on 400 take exit 13 and make a right.
What about parking?
We have several different parking areas available for attendees. When you first arrive at Parkway you will notice the circular drive in front of the church. You may use this circular drive to drop-off or pick-up passengers at the front door. To the left of the front doors there are several parking spaces designated for our senior attendees aged 70 and up. At the bottom of the hill to the right of the front doors you will find our front parking lot. We also have parking behind the church. To get to the back lot, as you enter the property, drive straight forward until you have passed the church building. There is an entrance provided for those using this lot.
Where do children go during services?
We provide a caring nursery from 8:30 until noon for service attendees. The nursery is for infants and toddlers up to age two. We also have a Children’s worship service at 9:00 and 11:15. This service is for children from age three through fifth grade. Children are invited to join our talented Children’s Worship Team after our welcome time in each service.
Am I expected to put money in the offering?
No. As a visitor to our church you are a welcomed guest and are not expected to place anything in the offering.
Who do I see about special prayer needs?
If you have an immediate prayer need, we have several contacts that can help you . At the end of each service we have Prayer Leaders at the front of the church or most any member can help direct you to someone to help you with your prayer need. You may also look for members with name badges which identify them as elders, deacons or Stephen ministers and they will provide you with a caring Christian ear or will direct you to a member of our pastoral staff.
Do you have any visitor information I can take home?
Our greeters can provide you with a visitor packet either as you enter or leave the church. We also have white visitor cards provided in the pews which you can complete and drop into the offering plate. We also have information regarding classes, ministries and various activities around the church. These flyers are located in the main hallway, either on the tables or in the bins on the wall opposite the sanctuary. Contact information is provided on these flyers for those that would like more information.
